TYPE: Non-Union, Cycle I 

SALARY: Per Terms of Employment for Non-Union Personnel, Cycle I

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, eight (8) hours per day 

REPORTS TO: Assistant Chief Information Officer 

OBJECTIVE: Performs skilled technical work in the installation, modification,  maintenance and repair of computer equipment and other types of  technology; performs related duties such as installation of computer  software programs and giving instructions on computer use and  maintenance of equipment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Responsible for imaging and deploying desktops, laptops, Chromebooks and iPads. Is  responsible for refresh and maintenance of equipment. 
  2. Repairs existing computer equipment by either repairing or replacing faulty components  along with necessary OS configuration and software. 
  3. Responsible for the configuration, maintenance, routine repair, inventory and lifecycle of the  multimedia and interactive projection systems. 
  4. Manages the processing of incoming tickets and provides support via telephone, online, and  e-mail to ensure courteous, timely, and effective resolution of end user issues. 5. Performs remote / hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading  software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring workstations and  desktop applications. 
  5. Any duties as assigned by the Assistant CIO. 

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Associates degree and three (3) years of experience, or equivalent experience. 2. Proficient in the use laptops, desktops, mobile devices, projection systems and interactive  boards in an enterprise environment. 
  2. Strong understanding of IT functions, ranging from operations to Windows based operating  systems, Chromebook OS(es) and mobile device OS(es). 
  3. Strong familiarity with laptop and desktop hardware.  
  4. Strong working knowledge of Google for Education productivity suite.

 

ADA & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including  computers, copiers, adding machines, etc. Must be able to exert up to 40 pounds of force  occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or  otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must be able to stand, crouch and bend  over for a long period of time at intervals throughout the day.  

  1. Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable,  functional, structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from obvious  standards) of data, people or things.  
  2. Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey  or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to  subordinates or assistants.  
  3. Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, forms,  newsletters, schedules, manuals, invoices, requisitions, menus, recipes, journals, etc.  Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, evaluations, procedures,  charts, surveys, articles, bid specifications, brochures, news releases, handbooks, budgets,  etc., using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction,  and style. Requires the ability to speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and  confidence.  
  4. Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define  problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive  variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form; and to deal with  several abstract and concrete variables.  
  5. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures,  to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and  efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages including medical, legal,  accounting and marketing terminology.  
  6. Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and  subtract; multiply and divide; utilize decimals and percentages; and to apply the principles of  algebra and geometry.  
  7. Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and  shape.  
  8. Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately  in using office equipment.  
  9. Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as office equipment  and hand tools. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.  11. Interpersonal: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving  instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with  emergency situations.  
  10. Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or  exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear.)  Must be able to communicate via telephone.
